A new potty

Ok...so I must admit I am not being so consistent with the potty. To be honest it is a bit of a nuisance (did I just say that) with the diapers and a SUPER active boy. Man I should have started this entire process BEFORE he started walking!
The other day I noticed Jack was having a "poo poo" we call it poo poo not a bowel movement or urinating, poo poo and pee pee and potty..simple. Anyway...I noticed he was talking a poo poo so I said "is Jack having a poo poo...lets go to the potty" and I picked him up and rushed him to the potty - trying not to scare him - or make him think it was a bad thing...and as I am trying to get the diaper off he is still pooing, and its coming out...and its all over the potty and him (disaster - stay calm Mommy)...and so I then pick him up...and we head back to the living room (and by the way our washroom downstairs is a "powder room at best - its super small) so we head back to the living room, where I am not ready to change a diaper, no pad down, diapers and wipes on the shelf, so I get him on the ground legs and bum up off the floor, struggling to reach for the wipes, Jack twisting and turning to get away, I use a gazillion wipes, put on the diaper and we're good to go. Now back to the washroom to clean up that mess.
My thoughts are - well...were not doing that again!
So we went back to....when Mommy goes potty Jack goes potty (pretend potty - just sitting) on his little potty diaper on.
This is no good...this is not going anywhere.
So...I have since taken a trip to Toys 'R' Us (on Monday)to purchase a "Diago" bigger boy potty (the one that sits on top of the toilet so that little bums don"t fall in!
I tried to let him be involved in the process (like the books say :) "Elmo or Diago potty Jack"..he seemed indifferent so we went with Diago potty and picked up a Nubby stool to help reach the sink to wash hands and perhaps assist in mounting the potty should he wish to do so.
I sat him on it this morning a few minutes after breakfast - because this is when I notice he takes a poo "sometimes". (His bowl movements are not clock work..so this is another issue).
Anyway, he seemed OK with the experience. He wasn't scared or stressed or struggling to get off. No pee or poo this morning.
I think our next step it to let Jack pee and poo while he is naked so that he is aware of what a pee and poo are - and that it comes out of his body (I read this in a potty "coaching" book). Perhaps we will do this after lunch one day this week in the swimming pool outside or maybe the bath tub. mmmmmm decisions decisions!
Hopefully this happens soon so we can get mastering this potty stage.

I am going to go out and get another potty and another stool for the upstairs bathroom and some pull ups and we are going to get this right. We are going to be consistent. We will sit on that potty when he wakes up the morning, after every nap, after every meal, and before bed.

I think Jack is ready to take on potty training (and I am ready to be more consistent). He hates having his diaper changed and is a pretty independent little guy. Hopefully he is ready for this responsibility!
